How we check

Confirmed means confirmed.

Every pet detail on Wild Homes has one of five states, a source and a date. Host answers are not a safety guarantee: always check fences, gates and surroundings yourself.

Five states

  • ConfirmedThe host (or a guest report, or our visit) confirmed it explicitly, with a date. Only this counts as a match.
  • Only partly · only partlyTrue only in part, for example a fence on three sides. Never counted as a yes.
  • No · noConfirmed not true.
  • Not yet confirmed · not yet confirmedNobody has answered yet. We show the exact open question.
  • Being checked · being checkedTwo sources disagree. We ask the host and show it as open until it's resolved.

Confirmations older than 12 months need reconfirming and stop counting as a match until then.

Three labels. None for sale.

Host Confirmed

The host answered our written pet questionnaire. Each answer is shown with its date.

Not meant: It does not mean every detail is confirmed, that we have visited, or that the stay is safe for every pet.

Community Tested

At least two guests reported back after staying with their pets, and we checked that they really stayed there.

Not meant: Reports describe one stay at one time. Things can change.

Wild Tested

Someone from Wild Homes visited and checked the listed details on site.

Not meant: A visit is a snapshot, not a safety inspection.

Labels are calculated from documented evidence: a dated written questionnaire, at least 2 guest reports with a checked stay, or a logged visit. Payment never changes a label, a chapter or a match.

Our rules

  • Search needs only match when every one is confirmed. We never drop a need without asking you.
  • Contradictions are flagged automatically and shown as “being checked”, never as confirmed.
  • A Field Guide chapter opens only when at least 3 stays confirm all of its criteria.
  • Guest reports and suggestions are read by a person before anything is published.
  • Photos are only used with the rights holder's permission or a licence that allows it.
